Lotus
at Le Mans 2011
After
17 years away from Le Mans, Lotus entered 2 Lotus Evora GTE cars
into the 2011 Le Mans GTE-Pro class. The last time Lotus ran a works
car was 1997 with the Elise GT1. During qualifying Lotus Jetalliance
car 64, driven by Martin Rich, Oskar Slingerland and John Hartshorne,
ran faultlessly while Car 65 of James Rossiter, Johnny Mowlem and
Jonathan Herschi, struggled with a technical problems.
After and exciting race with much action and rain, car number 65
driven by J. Mowlem, proved reliable finishing 22nd and 7th in class.
It's best lap was a 4:07 and did 295 laps with 24 pit stops. Car
number 64 retired after 17 hours and 229 laps, driven by J. Hartshorne
and was classified 45th overall. The Lotus Evora number 65 comfortably
beat a Porsche 911RSR, Ferrari 458 and a Ford GT. Well done Lotus!
