Lombardi
FL1
The
Lombardi FL1 was designed by Francise Lombari and displayed at the
Turin Motorshow in 1972. It was a mid engined concept car and was
to be offered with 2 engine specs; Lancia 2000 IE or a Ford 3 litre
V6. The car was compact, measuring 4214mm long by 1700mm wide and
1135mm high. It was also lightweight at 800kg. It could reach a
claimed 125mph in 2 litre guise and 140mph with the larger V6 engine.
The car was designed for a small production run of 150 - 200 cars
per year. The Lombardi Fl-1 never saw production.

In
1979 Ferruccio Covini bought the prototype and added rear buttresses
to the car and called it a Covini B24.
The
car was further modified when Ferruccio Covini removed the Lancia
2000 engine and installed a 2.3 liter four-cylinder turbo from VM
Motori. He resprayed the car white and changed the wheels and renamed
the car the Covini Sirio.
The
car was displayed at the 1981 Geneva Motorshow. Below is a photo
of Colin Chapman looking over the car.
The
car was put into manufacture and it is understood that 9 Covin Sirios
were built.
